Easy Chocolate Covered Strawberries


What’s better than fresh luscious strawberries? Obviously, fresh luscious strawberries dipped in chocolate. These chocolate strawberries are sinfully easy to make and are perfect for a special occasion.

  • 1 lb Strawberries
  • 1 Package chocolate chips 11.5 oz

Toppings, optional

  • Chopped nuts
  • Flaked coconut
  • Sprinkles


  • Allow your strawberries to come to room temperature. Then wash and completely dry them.
  • Fill a small pot with about 1 inch of water then place a heat proof bowl or pan over the top of that. That creates a double boiler.  
  • Set ¼ cup of the chocolate chips aside to use later for tempering the chocolate
  • Place the remaining chocolate chips into the top bowl of your double boiler, stirring frequently. 
  • When chocolate is melted remove from heat and double boiler. Temper your chocolate by adding the remaining chocolate chips. Mix and let them melt with the heat of the chocolate without adding any additional heat. Stir until chocolate is smooth.
  • Dip strawberries in the melted chocolate. Shake gently to remove the excess and then place on a silicon baking liner, parchment paper or waxed paper.
  • Optional: sprinkle on any toppings you desire such as chopped nuts, coconut flakes, sprinkles or come up with your own idea.
  • Allow chocolate to set up completely before you enjoy. This may take 30 to 60 minutes or more depending on your room’s temperature.
  • Enjoy these within 1 - 2 days. Leave them at room temperature if possible, uncovered or with just a loose covering. An air tight container will trap in moisture and make the strawberries sweat and separate from the chocolate.


If it is summer and your weather is very hot you can put them in the fridge. However, refrigerating them may cause bloom to develop.
Bloom is that hazy white covering on chocolate after it has been refrigerated, it does not affect the flavor but alters the smooth luxurious look of the chocolate.
If you have extra melted chocolate when you are done you can dip other goodies you have on hand such as pretzels, graham crackers or orange slices. Or pour it on your parchment, let it cool and then chop up to use in chocolate chip cookies later.
